Can Secret, the island’s best-kept secret, opens its doors at Agroturismo Safragell
This new restaurant arrives on the island with a Mediterranean-inspired culinary concept, a pairing menu with wines by the glass or half glass, and a menu where 90% of dishes are gluten free.
Set on a centuries-old estate in Sant Llorenç de Balàfia, Can Secret was created as a culinary refuge to discover and share, with versatile spaces for events and a firm commitment to local produce.
Can Secret, the new restaurant at Agroturismo Safragell, opens its doors today, revealing the island’s best-kept secret. A project with its own identity, it places Ibizan gastronomy at the heart of an experience connected to the land, the landscape and the most authentic Ibiza. Conceived as the gastronomic heart of Agroturismo Safragell, Can Secret sets out to become one of those places discovered almost by chance and recommended with conviction: a refined, elegant and serene refuge, away from the obvious, where the essential takes centre stage.
With a culinary concept defined as “Cuina amb ànima,” the identity of Can Secret is built on warmth, authenticity and an intimate gastronomic experience linked to the land. Its visual and conceptual universe evokes the idea of crossing a threshold into a special place, where nature, calm and cuisine meet. This story now takes shape in a contemporary offering that brings Mediterranean cuisine together with flavours from around the world, always with respect for origin and product quality.
The Can Secret menu begins with a clear statement of intent, exploring local and seasonal produce through dishes designed for sharing and discovery. Extra virgin olive oil is one of the pillars of the kitchen, with different single-varietal oils chosen to accompany each dish and enhance its nuances. “A good oil does not mask a dish, it reveals it,” says the Can Secret team. Highlights include KM0 leek confit cooked in the Josper with romesco, Mediterranean aubergine on citrus tahini with Toscana tomato and almond, curry-roasted carrot with labneh, and roasted beetroot with rocket pesto and goat’s cheese, alongside seafood bites such as sea bass and mango ceviche, crispy scallop and red prawn taco, and wild sea bass with roasted fennel cream. The menu is completed with dishes such as artichoke lasagne, truffle and mushroom risotto, noodles with bluefin tuna, Josper-grilled Ibizan chicken supreme, slow-cooked black pork ribs and beef cheek in red wine, as well as desserts including basil sponge with white chocolate, chocolate ganache with tahini and miso, and an intense cheesecake.
“Our cuisine is born from a simple idea: to respect the product and let it speak for itself. That is why we work with quality ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible, many of them from our own garden, with deep admiration for Spanish produce and for those who grow, fish or rear it, with respect for the land and the sea,” say its founders.
Of its 28 dishes, half are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, in keeping with the agricultural richness of the surroundings and with a contemporary, flexible and mindful way of understanding gastronomy. Another distinctive aspect of this philosophy is that 90% of the dishes are gluten free, a particularly important decision that opens the experience to all diners without sacrificing flavour, technique or the project’s personality. One of its main attractions is also a tasting menu paired with different wines, available by the glass or half glass, designed so each diner can build a more open, unhurried and personal experience. During the season, this culinary project will also reveal pairing dinners, tastings and workshops as Can Secret signature experiences.
“Our cuisine is Mediterranean, open and contemporary: vegetables that follow the rhythm of the season, fish treated with simplicity, meats cooked with mastery, and in-house preparations such as homemade pickles and ferments that add depth and character,” says the Can Secret team. The restaurant unfolds in a particularly singular setting, with elegant indoor spaces and an outdoor terrace woven into charming gardens, in constant dialogue with Ibizan architecture, dry stone walls and the atmosphere of silence that defines Agroturismo Safragell. With capacity for 80 diners and the potential to host events for up to 270 people, the space has also been conceived as a setting for private celebrations, brand gatherings, weddings, retreats and tailor-made proposals. It also includes a variety of multipurpose areas, most notably its glass-enclosed pergola, protected from the weather and the inspiration behind the Can Secret logo, as well as garden areas, a picnic area, indoor lounges and other spaces that reinforce its versatility, together with easy access and ample parking.
“Can Secret was born from the friendship of two people who share the same way of understanding life: enjoying the good things and working to make them possible,” the team concludes, deepening a philosophy that “believes in the value of company, in the pleasure of sharing and in taking care of something so valuable it never comes back: time.”
Beyond its gastronomic offering, Can Secret aims to establish itself as a meeting point for residents, guests and visitors who value discretion, conversation and places with personality. A restaurant to discover, make your own and share, but also to return to and recommend. A space where gastronomy is understood not only as consumption, but as experience, memory and a connection with the landscape. This ambition to become one of the gastronomic destinations to watch this season has been part of the project’s DNA from the beginning.
Agroturismo Safragell is a centuries-old estate located in the rural heart of Ibiza, in Sant Llorenç de Balàfia, and conceived as a haven of calm where traditional architecture coexists with contemporary design. Surrounded by 29 hectares of gardens, fruit trees and Mediterranean vegetation, the property keeps its agricultural essence alive through a seasonal garden, its own olive oil production and respect for exceptional natural and historical heritage.
The history of Agroturismo Safragell dates back centuries. The estate forms part of one of the oldest and most extensive historical areas in the region and preserves heritage elements of great value, such as the ancient sènia, wells, irrigation channels, water mill, lime kiln, bread ovens, grape press, threshing floor and the island’s characteristic stone walls. This legacy now coexists with a quiet luxury hospitality concept that brings accommodation, wellbeing and gastronomy together in a single destination.
This agroturismo offers 12 high-end rooms, a spa and various shared spaces designed for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature. Agroturismo Safragell does not simply host Can Secret: it gives it context, strengthens it and gives it meaning, shaping a harmonious proposal that looks to the future from authenticity, origin and a more serene way of experiencing Ibiza.
